This case was a Second Amendment challenge to the federal ban on firearm purchases from gun dealers by adults who are 18-20 years old.
CLDEF’s amicus curiae brief argued that 18-20-year-olds clearly are part of “the people” protected by the Second Amendment, and their right to bear arms cannot be overridden by public policy concerns about their alleged “dangerousness,” no matter how “important” or “compelling” a judge believes the government’s interest to be.
The U.S. Supreme Court denied the petition for certiorari.
